FM24 Best Wonderkid Defensive-Midfielders

I’m 99% certain that you’ll have realised that 5 Star Potential was a nod to the famous scouting grade for players with exceptional potential in Football Manager and every year we love to talk about Wonderkids and other great players our journeys uncover and it’s no different for Football Manager 2024 as we take a look at some players you should start scouting in your saves. 

Some of these players will be standout, household names and others just interesting prospects for all different types of clubs, basically, they are players we really like the look of.

A name that will be familiar to most as he’s now running the midfield at European powerhouse, Paris Saint Germain, but it was back on Podcast 266 where Scouted Football’s Joe Donnohue waxed lyrical about this young midfielder about to burst onto the scene. He has excellent technical, mental and physical attributes at just 17 meaning he could become the dominant force in world football BUT we all know how AI managed teams tend to leave talent unnurtured so keep an eye on PSG and see if he becomes available on the cheap.

South America has and probably will always be the hotbed for Wonderkid talent and this year Ezequiel Fernández is certainly up there as a player you’ll be able to sign on the cheap and develop him into a top player which is why Liverpool are linked with him in real life.

A highly rated English defensive midfielder playing in the second tier, Wharton’s player traits of Tries Killer Balls Often , Dictates Tempo & Tries Tricks couple excellently with his attribute set. We’d imagine that he’ll cost a lot due to English tax but at just 19 you would be signing a midfielder for a generation.
